London: Bradbury, Agnew, and Company TWO VOLUMES UNIFORMLY BOUND. All edges gilt. Panelled spine with elaborate gilt designs, red and black leather spine labels. Marbled endpapers. Circular gold book-plate on front pastedowns. Volume 1 rebacked with original spine laid-down. SIGNED BINDINGS BY MANSELL. Undated as usually seen, probably late 1880's. The two volumes contain a total of twenty full-page hand-colored steel engravings and two hundred woodcuts. Internalle, both volumes are clean and crisp throughout. 320-304pp. The first edition was published in 1847-48. . Later Edition. Full Tree Calf. Light edge and Corner Wear/No Jacket. Illus. by John Leech. Crown Octavo.
