Bound in original black leather spine & corners over black cloth with gilt lettering & blind stamping on covers. Binding Is solid: Text is tight & intact. (113pp + 6pp business directory of Newark). 45 colored maps: 20 double-page. Light rubbing to leather edges. A rare brown spot where fern leaves were pressed - not affecting maps. This is the first atlas of Newark and is combined with what can be denoted as the second atlas of New Jersey, preceeded only by the Beers state atlas of 1872. The city maps are fully colored by ward with landowners identified. The county maps in the state sections are fully colored by town. Edward Busch, engraver. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 113 pages .
