London: Jonathan Cape, 1968. First edition, first printing. Published by Jonathan Cape in London, 1968. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, illustrated by Tom Adams, is worn at the spine tips and has some slight chips. It has been neatly price clipped, but retains the original 21s. net price. The boards are in the original black cloth, with gilt titling at the spine. The text blocks are mostly clean, but with some sparse spotting. This copy is free from previous owners ink is in very good condition. he first James Bond continuation novel published after Ian Fleming's 1964 death, Colonel Sun centres on the fictional British Secret Service operative James Bond and his mission to track down the kidnappers of M, his superior at the Secret Service. During the mission he discovers a communist Chinese plot to cause an international incident. Bond, assisted by a Greek spy working for the Russians, finds M on a small Aegean island, rescues him and kills the two main plotters: Colonel Sun Liang-tan and a former Nazi commander, Von Richter.
Synopsis
Colonel Sun, by Robert Markham, is the first James Bond continuation novel published after Ian Fleming's death in 1964; Glidrose Productions used the collective pseudonym "Robert Markham", for British novelist Kingsley Amis, with the intent of so publishing other novels by different writers.
