About This Item
London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1912. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 11" by 8.5". None. Rudyard Kipling's literary agent A. S. Watt's limited edition copy of his poetical works. Five hundred copies of this edition de luxe were produced. This is out of series, with the handwritten notice 'Mr. A. S. Watt's specially bound copy' to the limitation leaf. Unusually, however, this volume is bound in the quarter cloth of the trade edition, rather than the vellum typical of the edition de luxe.Signed by the publisher - Hodder and Stoughton - and printer - T. Constable - to the limitation leaf. A specially bound copy, bound for Kipling's own literary agent. A. S. Watt was the son of A. P. Watt, who is generally regarded as the first literary agent. An impressively large collection of verses from the novelist, short-story writer, poet, and journalist best remembered for the Jungle Book duology, and his 'Just So Stories'. From the library of A. P. Watt & A. S. Watt of A. P. Watt and Son. In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with paper covered boards. Light spotting to front board, with rear board a touch age toned to perimeters. Head of front hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
