About This Item
London: Faber and Faber, (1960). First edition. Harry Blackmer's copy, signed on front endpaper, "Harry Blackmer/ Paris/ May '60." This presumably being the ownership signature of Colorado millionaire, Henry "Harry" Blackmer, who spent much of his life in self-imposed exile in Europe to avoid testifying in the Teapot Dome oil scandal investigation [Geneva, May 26 1962, Reuters/NY Times] after waging a losing Supreme court battle compelling him to return to the U.S. to testify [Blackmer v. United States, 284 U.S. 421 (1932)]. Near fine with light foxing to page edges and endpapers. In very good to near fine dust jacket with few small scrapes to spine lettering which is tanned and a touch of minor edge wear.
