Philadelphia & New York: J.B. Lippincott Co., 1959 (1968). Small 4to. xiii, [5], 173, [1] pp. Double-page illustrated title, illustrations & plates throughout, 1 pictorial map. Brick-coloured cloth, black lettering & illust. on front cover, illustrated endpapers (minor shelfwear, couple former ownership mark stamps on ffep., & contents page), w/ d.j. cover art by Lenski (minor dustsoiling, edgewear, couple tiny closed tears, price-clipped), still VG/VG bright copy. Sixth printing of this very uncommon Lenski title set in West Virginia, and another title in Lenski’s series of regional books, listing to Deer Valley Girl (1968) on back cover. Lenski was well-known in this series for moving into the targeted rural communities, sketching the children and flora & fauna in the surroundings, as well as incorporating oral history and biographical accounts.
