About This Item
London: Vanity Fair, 1873. Very Good. 1 chromolithographed print 38 x 26 cm. signed "Spy," with the biographical text (photocopy). Sir Leslie Ward (1851-1922), English caricaturist and portrait painter, signed his works 'Spy.' Edward Vaughan Kenealy (1819-1880), an Irish barrister and poet, was best known for his defense of the claimant to the Tichborne name and estate. After a long and scandalous trial, his client lost and Kenealy was censured by the jury for his conduct. In 1874 he was disbenched and disbarred; the following year he was elected to Parliament from Stoke-upon-Trent. In Very Good Condition: 3 closed tears of 1 cm. or less from right side; 1 closed tear of 1.5 cm. from top edge; lower edge slightly soiled; otherwise, clean and bright.
