About This Item

A total of 5 pieces in this rare CCC book lot. The first and third district annual's are paper covers, the Second is a hardcover. The CCC in NH is a pamphlet put out by the NH Division of Parks and Recreation White Mountain National Forest, A modern-day (undated) 6-page accordion style pamphlet from the Alumni Association CCC Chapter 107 with 2 photos and camp stats, etc... info. . The final piece is the most scarce: GALE RIVER LIFE (Camp No. 2118 at Pierce Bridge) coming from the 153rd company, a 12-page ( + covers ) newsletter with typed stories; news of the camp, forestry, sports, etc... Final page is: "Editorial from the White House". NOTE: Staples have been removed to scan and preserve the newsletter for posterity. Small edge tear and light fold on a few pages, else near fine. A very unusual find from the CCC company at Pierce Bridge, New Hampshire. Among many other things they built 2 bridges; 1 over the Ammonoosuc river and the other over the Zealand River. They were also responsible for building the Jewel Trail up Mount Washington 2 1/2 miles long from the Base Station up to Taft trail above the tree line and the Kinsman cabin on that mountain in Franconia. Also all of the work on the drainage of 500 acres in the experimental forest swamp into Gale River was by these men from the Gale River Camp. NOTE: This is not a copy or reproduction, it is an original printing from 1936/37 as are all of the books offered here.
