New York, NY: Random House. As. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good. Volume I: 1958. Eleventh Printing. 840 pp.; Volume II: 1963. Eighth Printing. 988 pp.; Volume III: 1974. Fourth Printing. 1106 pp. 4to. Dust jackets are uniform with slight sunning to spines, now in mylar covers. Gray cloth boards with blue embossed title to each spine. Head of text block stained blue on each volume. Endpapers in each volume are color maps that supplement the text illustrating battles and campaigns during the time covered in the volume. Clean and tight within.

Synopsis

Although he now makes his home in Memphis, Tennessee. Shelby Foote comes from a long line of Mississippians. He was born in Greenville, Mississippi, and attended school there until he entered the University of North Carolina. During World War II he served in the European theater as a captain of field artillery. In the period since the war, he has written five novels: Tournament, Follow Mc Down, Love in a Dry Season, Shiloh and Jordan County. He has been awarded three Guggenheim fellowships.
