Tientsin, China: La Librairie Francaise Tientsin, 1924. Hardcover. VG- clean and tight but with darkening to specific areas of edges of both free end papers. Art museum ex-lib. marks on reverse of title page and sticker on lower spine.. Original contents rebound into contemporary 3/4 red leather with saddle cloth. 5 raised bands with gilt lining and lettering. (Binding done by Wm. von Heill, Brooklyn, NY, for a library). Beautiful color frontis, with tissue guard; 47 pp. with occasional bw line drawings and 1 bw plate, followed by 26 plates (2 in color) and 1 bw map. Color plates have tissue guards. Translated by Miss L. Arnold. Chapters include: The Development of Carpet Weaving; Carpet Designs; The Colours of Chinese Carpets; and The Weaving of the Carpet. With a list of illustrations and an appendix.
