Eight charming color plates by Beth Krebs Morris. Blue-green cloth binding with black lettering stamped on front boards and spine. August 1929 Junior Literary Guild newsletter laid in. A children's fantasy novel about two siblings, Carol and Donald, who receive a fairy message about going to the Standing Stones on St. John's Eve to have an ADVENTURE. They follow the instructions and end up in the Children's Country, a magical land where children are the rulers. Burdekin wrote many other works of feminist and speculative fiction for adults under her given name, Katharine Burdekin and under the pen name of Murray Constantine. Originally published in Great Britain as "St. John's Eve". The author is most renowned for her dystopian novel "Swastika Nights". This title is her only book for children. Much of the research on Burdekin's work comes from Daphne Patai. 262 pages .
