First edition (first printing). Light wear to the spine ends, thus near fine in a price-clipped dust jacket with a 1-inch creased tear on the front cover. Inscribed by the author: 'For Goddard and Brigitta Lieberson, from an old grownup with affection, Jean.' Goddard Lieberson was a composer and the president of Columbia Records; his wife Brigitta (stage name Vera Zorina) was an actress and ballerina.
