Alfred A. Knopf. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 1964. First Edition. Hard Cover. SIGNED on the front endpaper by Roald Dahl, not on a bookplate, but directly on the page (without any inscriptions to anyone) ; This is the scarce second issue of the First Edition bound in red cloth with embossed title design on front board and gilt titles to spine, mustard colored endpapers, chocolate colored top edge of text block, and five line colophon. Illustrated by Joseph Schindelman, including the original Oompa-Loompa illustrations, changed and/or suppressed in later editions. The book is in Very Good condition, clean, tight and solid binding. With previous owner's bookplate neatly affixed to front pastedown and halfway hidden under the jacket flap, which is not price clipped - $3.95 to top. Dustjacket is slightly age-toned with a few minor tears and chips along the edges, however, the jacket looks Very Good in the new removable Mylar cover that now protects it. No inscriptions. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was first published in the United States by Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. in 1964, and in the United Kingdom by George Allen & Unwin in 1967.
