Publishers' blue quarter cloth with gilt titles to spine and gray paper-covered boards, in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket. Spine tips a little creased; small mark to lower board and stamped "P" to lower edge of text-block. Contents clean and tight, with Author's signature to red-edged plate to ffep. Jacket lightly toned and surface soiled to light background, with transparent adhesive tape repairs head & tail of spine. A Very Good copy in like jacket. Third novel by award winning author Pat Barker: the story of Liza Garrett, whose life mirrors the turmoil of England during the twentieth century (republished as "Liza's England" in 1996).
