About This Item
The Century Co.. Good. 1885. Hardcover. Bound half-year of famous magazine, featuring Henry James, Frank Stockton, Teddy Roosevelt, W. D. Howells, among others, and a special section on Civil War battles, including pieces by famous generals such as Grant, Longstreet, D. H. Hill, McClellan, Joe Johnston and Fitz John Porter. Appears to be personally bound or re-bound by the Tribune Bindery in Duluth, for John D. Stryker, with his name at bottom of spine cover. Binding with a little shift, but quite solid. Pages unmarked and only slightly aged, but there's a little water damage to the title page and table of contents. Numerous b&w illustrations. Cover - part leather, part marbled cloth - is worn at edges and there's one torn corner on the back. Leather spine cover is fairly worn at tips, but gold lettering shows only a little wear. ; BOUND IN ONE HARDCOVER VOLUME; 9.6 x 6.6 x 2.2; 976 pages .
