Green cloth boards and spine with gilt lettering on the spine and front board. Maps as endpapers. 295 pp 8vo. This book is the story of the Great Lakes and the iron ore mining industry that surrounded the lakes and fueled the great iron foundries of the Midwest. From the 1860s and the pick and shovel days to the deep underground mining operations; from wooden schooners to the mammoth ore carrying ships; the industry is shown here as it has grown and prospered through the years.
