Perth; Library Board of Western Australia; 1974.. Limited Edition; Oblong Roy. 4to; pp. [x], 106 (printed one side only); frontispiece plate showing entry for the Gregory family, bound in original quarter calf with blue cloth boards, title lettered in gilt on spine, fine copy. Limited edition of 60 copies.The first census in Western Australia taken in 1837 from the Colonial Secretary's Official Records. It is the only census for the Colony for which the original schedules are extant. The original papers have become frail through much use This published list which has been made from the original gives a page reference for each entry and may be checked on the microfilm if desired. The population of Western Australia at this time was 1100 males and 730 females, plus military and attached personnel of 149 males and 46 females, a total of 2025 persons.
