Small folio, (12.25" by 8.25"), 32 pages & covers. Original self wraps, sewn, with an engraved illustration at the masthead with sentiment below: "No pent-up Utica contracts our powers; For the whole boundless continent is ours." Text in two columns.
Toned, stained, soiled, tattered, small losses not affecting text, shallow diagonal corner creasing throughout, about good & still quite useful.
An early edition, perhaps the first American, of part of Dumas' "Celebrated Crimes" series, originally published in 1839 & 1840. The series provides semi-fictionalized accounts of the most noteworthy criminal cases in European history.
