About This Item
London, MacMillan And Co. , 1877. Good. Hardcover. Seventh Thousand, Original red cloth decorated boards, well used so the book has some background wear, corners rubbed, clean and tight, circular decoration to front gilt portrait of a young lad with curly hair, some background speckling making colour uneven, gilt lettering to spine, minor edge wear, blue endpapers, previous owner's inscription dated 1878, 241 pages, 7 listed illustrations - only 5 are present. The five illustrations are super. Someone in the past has removed the one that should be opposite page 37 and the one that should be opposite page 115. The frontispiece is still tissue protected and there is a small vignette on the title page, 6.75 x 4.75 inches approx. A very nice Victorian novel for those who enjoy Walter Crane .
