About This Item
London: Eveleigh Nash, 1913., 1913. First edition. First edition. The U. S. edition wasn't issued until 1947. Lightly sunned on the spine and with a bit of scattered foxing to the interior else near fine. Nine short stories of which THE FIND is a bibliomystery. Thomas Carnacki is an investigator into strange, possibly supernatural events, usually involving haunted rooms or houses. In THE FIND Carnacki, while talking to his friend Jones, learns of the existence of a second copy of The Dumply Acrostics. To Carnackiâs knowledge, this is impossible as only one copy exists, and it is in the Caylen Museum. The book was written by John Dumpley and presented to Queen Elizabeth on her fortieth birthday. Supposedly, the type was distributed and the manuscript burnt immediately after printing that one copy for the Queen. Carnacki is hired to investigate the existence of a second copy. Queen's Quorum 53 and an uncommon to scarce book. Housed in a cloth, clamshell case with titles stamped in gold gilt on the front cover and spine.
