About This Item
8vo, original blindstamped green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, recased with endpapers repalced, 244 pp.Spine ends and corners frayed, slight aging; else very good. Originally published in 1861, the current work is a reprint of that rare edition, which uses the same sheets, but has a new title page. This is an interesting and well written account of the author's travels, mainly in northern Mexico in the 1850s, while serving with the Texas Rangers.A classic of Ranger narratives, but Streeter raises some question as to whether Box was the real author.
