San Francisco: A. M. Robertson, 1914. First Edition. Cloth-backed Boards. Near Fine/Custom Clear Mylar. (xi) 80 pp. SIGNED/INSCRIBED by Author Davis in ink on the front free endpaper: "To Guy C. Earl, In loving remembrance of the afternoon on Angel island, John F. Davis." Signed bookplate on front pastedown: Graham of Montrose. Illustrated, including frontispiece from William Keith painting of San Francisco Bay with tissue guard. Cloth-backed boards with gil front cover and spine titling. 5 1/2" x 8 1/4". As the subtitle suggests, this was a plea for a better organized histories and the preservation of records. Included as appendices are (1) The Love-Story of Concha Arguello and (2) The poem Concepcion De Arguello by Bret Harte.
