VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. Maroon cloth-bound boards with gold type to spine, index. 'Pain and controversy are necessary parts of scholarship' (from the Foreword). Forty years after Lewis's death part of his literary heritage is here found to be a hoax, requiring a new appraissal.
