First Edition, from a limited edition of 780 copies. Warmly inscribed by Robert Vavra in 1973 on title page. Fascinated by bullfighting on Mexico, Varva moved to Spain in 1958 and immersed himself in the bull fighting life, spending six years studying (and photographing) the national past time, which culminated in this famous work. Introduction by James Michener. Printed and bound in Spain. Near fine in original black cloth with design and lettering in gilt, spine a touch faded, and near fine in wonderful pictorial publisher's slipcase. Quarto. 11.25 x 11.25 in. 274 pp. A wonderful copy.
