Near Fine in a dustwrapper with small chips at the spine tips. Crane A2.2. The Second American Edition of Frost's first book, designated "First 1934 Edition" on the copyright page. The book was redesigned and the text completely reset, with a woodcut by Thomas Nason added and a few minor changes by Frost made from the original edition. This copy SIGNED by the author and INSCRIBED for Don Smith on the front endpaper with the last stanza of a poem in the book, "The Vantage Point," titled here by Frost as "People in the Distant Village and Graveyard," in MANUSCRIPT in Frost's hand: "And if by noon I have to [sic] much of these/I have but to turn on my arm and lo/The sun-burned hillside sets my face aglow/My breathing shakes the bluet like a breeze/I smell the earth I smell the bruisäd plant/I look into the crater of the ant."
