About This Item
Roma: Botteghe Oscuro. Softcover. All are very tight with mostly very clean interiors; a few have light sunning to fore edges of pages; most spines have sunning and staining; Quaderno VII has an orange band around the middle, and Quaderni XXII and XXIV have orange and white dust jackets.. Cream wraps with brown lettering. Text is in several languages, mostly English, French, and Italian. Quaderno V has an additional volume containing the Italian translations of all of the English texts in the main volume. There were 25 Quaderni (Volumes) in all. This "set" of 16 contains all but nos. 8,9,12,13,15,17,18,21,23, and 25, so is a very partial set. Some of the contributors include Eugenio Montale, Guglielmo Petroni, Santro Penna, Giorgio Bassani, Antonio Rinaldi, Attilio Bertolucci, Augusto Guidi, Cecrope Barilli, Mario Sabbatini, and Manlio Cancogni (from volume 1), Wallace Stevens, Tennessee Williams, Stephen Spender, Dylan Thomas, W.H. Auden, Lilian Bowes Lyon, Walter de la Mare, Edith Sitwell, e e cummings, William Carlos Williams, Elsa Morante, George Barker, Truman Capote, William Fense Weaver (former owner of this set of books), Cleveland Moffett, Francis Ponge, Andre Dhotel, Carlo Levi, Mario Soldati, Paul Valery, and many others.
