The Washington Benevolent Society. unbound. very good. Original bookmark. 1.75" x 5.5" (rounded corners), depicting an image of George Washington with an angel holding a wreath above his head, captioned "Pro Patrio" (above image) and "Washington Benevolent Society". Interesting to note that the wording 'Benevolent Society' is imprinted on one line as opposed to the ribbons of the same era which have a three line imprint. <br><br>Condition: usual wrinkling and light soiling, one small chip at right-hand margin, small hole below the image of Washington (image unaffected).<br/><br/> The Washington Benevolent Society were a group of political clubs set up between 1816-1818 by the Federalist Party whose sole purpose was to electioneer for votes.<br/><br/>
