The first edition of this delightful work, compiled by Beverley Nichols, who created this volume to celebrate the true essence of the British spirit, collecting various old and popular ballads in a celebration of British folklore. Some of the ballads included are 'The Knight and the Shepherd's Daughter,' 'Robin Hood and Guy of Gisborne,' 'Sir Lancelot du Lake,' 'Thomas the Rhymer,' alongside numerous others.Richly illustrated with sixteen colour plates and further vignette illustrations by H. M. Brock, noted artist for illustrating works by Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as contributing to the Punch magazine. Collated, complete. In a cloth, imitation reverse calf binding. Externally, very good indeed. Light rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark. Internally, firmly bound, with bright, clean pages. Bookplate to the first blank. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
