His first important patron was Carlos Scherrer of Argentina in the decades before WW Two. This book is a celebration of his collection of great French literature, illustrated by Braque, Chagall, Matisse, Picasso Degas and others in superb bindings by Bonet and others. The two volumes represent two complete collection of breathtaking design bindings offered by legendary booksellers John Fleming and Priscilla Juvelis with 219 items in the original catalog and 57 items in the second. Each volume signed by Priscilla Juvelis on title page. Unpag. 4to. Volume I, from 1985 is bound in red cloth with gold embossed titling to cover and spine. Volume II is in wraps with an image from item #28, Henri Matisse's "Jazz" reproduced on the cover. Clean crisp copies with tipped in color plates illustrating the volumes offered for sale. Volume II has the original price list laid in at rear.
