A fine copy, the binding square and tight, the contents, with a little light spotting to the top of the text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions. Complete with the spine-faded original dustwrapper which has a small mark to the front panel. Not price clipped (£8.95 to the bottom of the front flap). Peake was commissioned to illustrate Dickens's Bleak House in 1945, but the project was ultimately abandoned. Books show some toning to some spines, wear to spines that includes some small tears to ends and small scuff to cloth on one volume (Little Dorrit I), faint soil and rubbing, bindings tight, a few pencil signatures to front endpapers, otherwise texts clean and unmarked with gentle toning throughout, top edges gilt with mild dust.
