New York/London: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1927. Mary Blair Niles (1880-1959) was a well-known geographer who also wrote several novels. This account of her time spent in Haiti was first published in 1926. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the Second Printing (stated "Second printing, February, 1927"). Orange and gold paper-covered boards with a black cloth spine; titling in gilt on the spine. Clean text; viii, 325 pages; illustrated endpapers. Frontis photograph in sepia; 15 others within, by Robert Niles, Jr. This copy has been SIGNED and INSCRIBED by the author on the second free endpaper. Bumped, general wear and soiling; spine has faded; spotting to page-ends. Although not a beauty, this is a solid-enough copy. No dustjacket; in an archival plastic protector.. Inscribed By Author. Second Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good (Minus)/No Jacket. Illus. by Robert Niles, Jr.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
