Volume I only of a work that eventually ran to five volumes.The work of noted American boxing writer and collector Nat Fleischer, who founded the American boxing magazine 'The Ring' in 1922.Illustrated with with a frontispiece and nine double-sided plates. Collated, complete.Many individuals are discussed in this volume, including Bill Richmond "The Black Terror", Sambo Sutton "The Grotesque", and Bob Smith "The Liverpool Darkey". In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Boards bright, with back strip age toned. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Marks of adhesive residue to front and rear pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good Indeed
