About This Item
Evansville, 1879. 176pp. Original gilt cloth. Cloth soiled, bit frayed at extremities, small tear in backstrip, front hinge broken. A few pencil notes, but internally very good. First and only edition, not in Smith. "The largest party of tourists who ever made the rounds in a body under one management" embarked for Europe in July of 1879. The group numbered 313, and after a miserable crossing they toured Scotland, England, Holland, Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland, returning to New York in September.
