About This Item

Houghton, Mifflin and Company. ** FIRST EDITION ** SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ** NEAR FINE-TO-FINE HARDCOVER ** CLEAN AND BRIGHT ** STAIN-FREE AND UNMARKED ** NOT A LIBRARY BOOK ** Published by Houghton Mifflin & Company in 1898. With 233 pages. One of only 12 complimentary copies given by the publisher to the author, and inscribed, dated, and signed on the front free endpaper by the author to his friend, writer and critic Benjamin Heydrick. Well-made book, bound in heavy-duty cloth-covered boards, with bright embossed gilt lettering on the front and the spine, top exterior page edges gilt. The book has no notable flaws, shows only extremely occasional, very brief, and faint signs of use or age (pages perhaps lightly age-toned). The book is exceptionally clean and stain-free, square and straight, very firm and tight in its binding, no pages loose or missing. The hinges are sound and undamaged, the corners sharp and unbumped. The cloth binding shows virtually no wear at all, no tears, no fraying, no rubbed or worn spots, looks almost as crisp and fresh as new. Aside from the inscriptions, there is no writing, underlining, highlighting, or other such markings in the book. Buy with confidence, professional booksellers for 35 years, selling books online since 1995. B13. . Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1898.
