About This Item
London: Field & Tuer, the Leadenhall Press, 1884. Book. Illus. by 17 Charming Bewick Woodcuts. Very Good. Cloth. 1st Edition. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Title continued, "Catalogue with Purchasers' Names and Prices Realized of the Scarce and Curious Collection of Books, Silver Plate, Prints, Pictures, Wood Blocks, Copper Plates, and Bewick Relics, Etc.". Sold by auction at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on February 5, 6, 7 and August 26, 1884. This series of auctions took place following the death of Iisabella Bewick, the last surviving daughter of thomas Bewick. A fine reference to the Bewick woodcuts and sketches, as well as his household furnishings, with full page woodcuts a nice bonus. Original brown cloth with slight edgewear, more wear at the spine ends, and a gilt title on the spine that is some dulled. Inside, clean and tight..
