About This Item
London: Sidgwick and Jackson, 1977. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5". None. A scarce two volume set of the works of Arthur C. Clarke. New edition. First published in one volume in 1973 but scarce in any edition. Arthur C. Clarke was a British science fiction writer and inventor, who is widely regarded as a key figure in the popularisation of space travel. His screenplay for the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was co-written with Stanley Kubrick, is considered to be one of the most influential films of all time. For many years Arthur C. Clarke, along with Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asmiov, were considered the 'Big Three' of science fiction writing. This two volume set of his works includes many of his short stories published between 1937 and 1972, including The Star and Summertime on Icarus. In black cloth bindings in the original unclipped dustwrappers. Externally very smart, with just some slight wear to the extremities. Evidence of tape removal to boards. Personal bookplate of Patricia C. Orendi to front free endpaper on both volumes. Dustwrappers are very smart. Offsetting from tape to the reverse of the wrap which is somewhat visible on the front of both wraps. Internally firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
