About This Item

Chicago: M. A. Donohue, 1926. Early Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Gruelle, Johnny. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Black cloth over color pictorial boards (boards rubbed; several pages lightly creased; ink name). Beloved Belindy is the "mammy" of Raggedy Ann and Andy, and all the other dolls in the nursery. The illustrations of Belindy will appear derogatory to today's child. Useful for the study and illustration of historic racial archetypes in children's literature.
