London: William Heinemann NONE [NONE] 1921. (hardcover) 93pp. Very good. 8vo. Quater bound, yellow paper boards. Paste down title blocks to front and spine. Starting at various points throughout the text, yet remains solidly bound. Printed on heavy stock. There is a tiny paste down stick to the front fixed endpaper. 8 colour plates, which includes the frontispiece; 4 with tissue guards, 4 missing. Internally clean. The Beggar's Opera introduced the genre of 'ballad opera', the forerunner to the modern musical, and was well received when it was first staged at Lincoln's Inn Fields in 1728..
