In French with English translation. Charles Pierre Péguy, (1873-1914), was a French poet, essayist and editor. In WWI he served as a lieutenant in the French 276th Infantry Regiment and died in battle the day before the beginning of the Battle of the Marne. There is a memorial to him near the field where he died. His two main philosophies were socialism and nationalism, (although his form of Socialism was said to be more akin to that of Saint Francis than to that of Karl Marx), but he eventually became a believing but non practicing, Roman Catholic about 1908, after which Catholicism strongly influenced his works..
