(Spine slightly rubbed at ends. Not price clipped). Mild foxing to top edge. Else a clean and tight copy. 489 pp. With b/w illustrations and maps. John Barrow was Second Secretary to the Admiralty in 1816. Once the Napoleonic Wars had ended he found a use for the British Navy in exploring the vast numbers of the Globe’s empty spaces. These are the stories of some of them including Franklin and Ross.
