Philadelphia: Carey and Hart. Good. 1839. First American Edition. Hardcover. ; Complete 2 volume set. Half brown cloth covers with paper spine labels are toned, soiled, worn, and frayed at corners. Boards and spines are straight. Bindings are tight. Former owner's name on front end sheet and paste down. Pages have light foxing but in very good condition. Signed by original owner, Angus Cooke, on front end sheet. Cooke was a sergeant in the 71st Regiment of Foot in Dundalk, Scotland. He served with the Regiment throughout the Napoleonic Wars in Spain, France, and Belgium. Comes with letter of provenance. .
