Rider Haggard's gothic fantasy novel, illustrated by Maurice Greiffenhagen. An early reprint of the first edition of this work, rebound in a quarter calf binding with renewed end papers. Illustrated with 30 black and white plates. Collated, complete. Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English author who specialised in adventure fiction set in exotic locations, primarily Africa. He was a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. This gothic fantasy novel is the sequel to Haggard's extremely popular novel, She. The story is set in Tibet after Horace Holly encounters a manuscript containing a second memoir about Ayesha. Illustrated throughout by Maurice Greiffenhagen. Rebound in a quarter calf binding with renewed end papers. Externally very smart, with some fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with the odd spot throughout. Very Good Indeed
