About This Item

New York City, NY: Knopf Doubleday Publishers, 2009. First Edition. First Printing.. Softcover. Fine/No Dust Jacket, As Issued.. New York City, NY: Knopf Doubleday Publishers, 2009. Softcover. Fine/None, As Issued. First Edition/First Printing. 208 pages. Full text of the screenplay. One of the most important films of our time. The First Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a softcover original only. The First Edition is now scarce. Presents Dave Eggers' and Vida Vendela's "Away We Go: The Screenplay". With the indispensable aid of their screenplay, marks the triumphant return to form of film director Sam Mendes. "Longtime couple Verona and Burt are expecting a baby, and the impending child's only living grandparents are moving to - where else - Belgium. So Burt and Verona head out on the road, across America, looking for the right place to call home. Along the way, they encounter a succession of strange and hilarious friends and relatives, most of whom have no idea what they're doing. In the end, Burt and Verona come closer to an understanding of their own definition of home and family" (Publisher's blurb). The basis of the brilliant film by Sam Mendes, with an all-star cast headed by Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski, and includes Jeff Daniels, Catherine O'Hara, Maggie Gyllenhall, Josh Hamilton, Allison Janney, and Jim Gaffigan. An absolute "must-have" title for Dave Eggers, Vida Vendela, and "Away We Go" collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen-marker on the title page by Dave Eggers. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the First Edition/First Printing available online and despite its imperfection (visible browning on page edges and back covers because of the cheap, recycled paper used by the publisher) is still in fine condition overall: Clean, crisp, and bright. We mean that this copy was never handled, read, or used. Please note: Copies available online have very serious flaws, are in subsequent printing, or are remainder-marked. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare signed copy thus. Two of the most brilliant American writers of our time. A fine copy. . ISBN 0307475883.
