About This Item
London: Faber and Faber, 1996. First Thus. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First thus (first printing in the Faber Library Series, No 7). Hardback in dustwrapper. 20.5 × 13cm, 83pp. Written between August and December 1938, Autumn Journal is still considered one of the most valuable and moving testaments of living through the thirties by a young writer. It is a record of the author's emotional and intellectual experience during those months, the trivia of everyday living set against the events of the world outside, the settlement in Munich and slow defeat in Spain. Condition: This copy is in very good condition. The book has clean pages, secure binding and is free from inscription. The dustwrapper has a very slight hint of fading to the spine and is now within a protective sleeve.
