Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1872-1882. First Editions of all six volumes; issued as Christmas gift books containing fiction and non-fiction, some reprinted, some original. The volumes are uniformly bound, but in various colors. The series comprises the following titles: My Boys, Etc. (1872), Shawl-Straps (1872), Cupid and Chow-Chow (1874), My Girls, Etc. (1878), Jimmy’s Cruise in the Pinafore, Etc. (1879, and An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving, Etc. (1882). BAL 168, 171, 174, 186, 191, & 202. Contemporary pencil inscriptions in two volumes; the first volume has a bookseller’s early description taped in at the top and bottom of the clipping; only very light wear; an exceptional, bright and impressive set, rarely found complete, and even less often, unspoiled by the youthful readers it was intended for.
