Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout with markings to some pages. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Creasing to some pages. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Heavy sunning to spine and edges with medium crushing to ends causing fraying to cloth to spine. Wear marks overall. Gilt lettering is bright and clear.

This copy is number g1224 in Avon's book numbering system from the fifties and sixties. The last copyright date listed is 1951, but the cover art style and price suggest this printing was from about 1967. There is some roll of the spine, with light cracking along the back cover at the spine. A past owner tried to obscure the price (50 cents) with a ballpoint. Inside the front cover there is an old bookstore stamp. Other than the age-related yellowing to be expected in books of this vintage, the pages look great. This is an excellent reading copy or place-holder for a collector of the genre. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall.
