Paris: Audot, 1844. First edition. Boards. Later marbled boards with brown leather spine label printed in gilt. Fine. 104 pages in text. 18.5 x 22.5 cm. Twenty-one lithographic plates, one a large foldout (Greenhouse of the Botanical Garden at the University of Louvain), and containing eighty-eight individual illustrations of plats and greenhouses (design details of interior and exterior views). Some drawings to scale. Text covers construction of an orangerie, warm and cold weather greenhouses. The author was Chief gardener of the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle de Paris. Lovely copy, slight text age-toning, original wrappers bound-in, marbled endpapers, a few plates with toning at fore-edge not affecting images. OCLC lists three copies only. Text in French.
