About This Item
NY: Doubleday, 1971. 1st Edition No Additional Printings . Hardcover. Poor/Poor. This listing is for 3 Stegneriana items sold as a group at the listed price with one book priced domestic media mail shipping. The AOR is one of the roughest items in our inventory and while completely readable and rather scarce in trade first edition, many flaws are present and the jacket is only partial. Book has h2o stain (front board lower, light, text not badly affected) stated first edition, no debossing. Quite cocked (spine slant) unmarked text, binding holding, no gapping, traces of cover tip abrasion. The 'Jacket' consists of front flap and back panel only (both rather tattery), no spine or fr. cover is present. F. Flap says "A.O.R." under which price is "$7.95." My reference shows no points of issue for book or jacket. Accompanying A.O.R. are Page Stegner's "Marking The Sparrows Fall" 'Wallace Stegner's American West'-in handsome jacketed 1998 first (full number line) graded Very Good+ in Very Good+(or both a shade better) jacket. The 3rd item is unusual and was difficult to assess. A local Stegner specialist advises that he thinks it is a copy (Mimeograph or early fotocopy) of an address typed by Stegner and prepared as a commencement address, likely for his alma mater. The header reads "Wallace Stegner, 13456 South Fork Lane, Los Altos Hills, Ca. 94022." In the 6 page item he reminisces re high school, the University of Utah, The English Depatment and his love of books, as well as classmates and professors. The text has been folded for mailing and has only one handwritten mark, center back, perhaps a felt penned 'S' perhaps just a scrawl. The same area has some light stain, on back, not on text side. Foto of this group will follow ASAP. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. We assure the buyer that books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, using the strict, traditional standards.*
