About This Item

(New York): Warner Books, 1989. First Edition. Hardcover in dust jacket. Very Good/Very Good-. Andy Warhol. 4to. Pp. [viii], ix-xix, [3], 1-807. Frontis. self portrait. Illustrated with two generous sections of black-and-white photos. Endpapers with repeating self portrait in black and silver. In half black-cloth binding over black paper-covered boards, front board with portrait in blind, white lettering stamped on spine. Superficial dampstain on top edge. In the illustrated dust jacket that has some slight scratches on front and rare panels, spine a touch faded. Price of $29.95 intact on front flap. A solid copy. First printing of the first edition.

The diary entries date from 1976-1987 (February 17 of that year, to be exact, four days before he died.) The subjects of Warhol's diaries cover the strata of society, from guttermost to uttermost, but one common thread is assuredness of sensational, titillating, and sordid activity. Editor Hackett was a Factory fixture, and wrote the screenplay to Bad.

Dust jacket is now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.

Synopsis

"This international literary sensation turns the spotlight on one of the most influential and controversial figures in American culture. Filled with shocking observations about the lives, loves, and careers of the rich, famous, and fabulous, Warhol's journal is endlessly fun and fascinating. Spanning the mid-1970s until just a few days before his death in 1987, THE ANDY WARHOL DIARIES is a compendium of the more than twenty thousand pages of the artist's diary that he dictated daily to Pat Hackett." - From the Publisher
