Printed for the author by William Pollard, Exeter, 1877, 1st edition. Rebound, quarter buckram spine with grey, paper covered, boards. Black lettering to spine. 11.25ins x 9ins, [iv], xii, blank, 392pp, ii, 86pp plates ( numbered 1 to 25 and 1 to 61). Many crests and sketch illustrations within the text. The contents of this book comprise two papers read before the Exeter Diocesan Architectural Society in 1866 and 1874 plus an appendix and some genealogical tables. The plates are all at the rear of the book. The first batch, I to XXV, all deal with South Devon subjects. The first 21 of the second batch of plates,( I to LXI) deal with North Devon subjects and are printed on a whiter, slightly thicker paper. These are all listed as printed by ""Whiteman & Bass, Litho to the Queen, 236 Holborn, London"". Previous owners signature and date of 1891 to top of title page. More recent previous owners bookplate to front pastedown. Scattered light foxing but overall a VG copy in a sound binding.
